Never has a role been cast so perfectly as “Game of Thrones” Peter Dinklage in CYRANO from Pride & Prejudice Director Joe Wright, and this classic misfit tale opens Dec. 31 in theaters.
The much portrayed Cyrano de Bergerac is seen in an entirely new light here with Peter Dinklage, accent-free, as his native New Jersey self. “My sole purpose on the this earth is to love Roxanne… no one will ever accept someone like me, and a tall, beautiful woman.”
Between the sword fights and the shattered hearts, Dinklage finds time to pen poetry to a full-sized Roxanne – or actor Haley Bennett that is – with her heart in all the wrong places.
Will our diminutive hero win the day? No matter, as Peter Dinklage’s long and wonderful career seems to be turning into gold in time for Award Season in Hollywood. Yes, there is singing and some dancing, but it’s subtle and the acting from all transforms a tired fable into a living, breathing literary love story.
