One thought on “Op-Ed: The Woody Allen Memoir… We Need the Dregs?

  1. Woody Allen was turned on by 17-year-old-girls. He made “Manhattan” about it. But that doesn’t prove he ever acted on that feeling in real life. Woody Allen’s actions regarding Soon-Yi are certainly abnormal and creepy. But a judge determined that their sexual relationship didn’t begin until December 1991, when she was 21. So those actions were not abusive or illegal. In fact, the couple has been happily married for 23 years and raised two adopted children together.

If you want to cancel cultural icons who committed immoral and illegal acts, David Bowie had sex with a 14-year-old groupie, the same one Jimmy Page had sex with while she was the same age. Why not boycott all Bowie and Led Zeppelin songs, too? Doesn’t playing them actively endorse pedophilia?

The only disturbing unanswered question to me is whether Woody ever molested his 7-year-old adopted daughter. The courts exonerated him, but nobody can say for 100 percent sure. Satchel/Ronan (the Pulitzer-winning writer so great at getting to the bottom of every dirty celebrity truth who refuses a DNA test proving that he is Frank Sinatra’s son) asserts that it’s true. Dylan (the 7-year-old) has vivid memories of it happening.

Something sick clearly happened here. But those allegations were made eight months after Mia found out about Woody and Soon-Yi. To me, it makes more sense that the sick thing was Mia’s unstoppable vengeance.

None of us were there of course, but here’s someone who was:

What I think is clear in all this is that Mia Farrow was the worst possible thing to ever happen to Woody Allen.
