Nicole Kidman & Javier Bardem work it as legends in BEING THE RICARDOS

OMG, Lucille Ball is branded a “Red” and not strictly a redhead, all the while being blue about Desi Arnaz and his skirt-chasing ways… wait, that’s Lucy and Desi in real life, not the iconic “I Love Lucy” beloved duo Lucy and Ricky with Fred and Ethel. It’s also where the ferociously gifted Writer-director Aaron Sorkin (SOCIAL NETWORK) goes in BEING THE RICARDOS with an award-tipped cast of Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball and powerhouse actor Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz for Prime Video.

No sense beating around the set, just watch the clip, with a voice-over as Lucy by Nicole Kidman that beats back any doubt that she is well-cast as the brassy TV Ball.

Catch the Chemistry of Kidman & Bardem

Lucy and Desi’s record-breaker for a beloved TV show “I Love Lucy” ran from 1951 to 1957, but became a must-watch in reruns. In fact, their reign was only toppled from the number one spot by Jerry Seinfeld’s little show years and years in the future.

Lucille Ball ran a major studio, the one built by her show with husband Desi who pioneered production techniques. Lucy changed the national mind about pregnancy and so called “mixed marriages” – between the two of them, with two beautiful children and hit show, they had the world on a string… until it broke.

This is where Sorkin comes in, as he finds the thread to their story and works his cinematic needle through Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem to stitch together the private lives of one of Hollywood’s most iconic fictional couples, Lucy and Ricky, and its beloved redhead Lucille Ball married to Cuban musician Desi Arnaz.

BEING THE RICARDOS open Dec. 10 wide in theaters, and then on Dec. 21, bows on Prime Video.
