Who else thought THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT from Lionsgate was about the life of Nicolas Cage? Yeah, no, it’s about a movie about the persona Nic Cage, starring Nicolas Cage who gets paid to party with a heavy played by Pedro Pascal, who then hijacks the plot of the man-in-the-mirror, maudlin, star-quits-acting movie.
Okay, that’s an oversimplification, but what starts out as a poor-me from a movie star version of Nicolas Cage turns into a CIA spy thing of sorts. The cast includes Sharon Horgan, Ike Barinholtz, Alessandra Mastronardi, Jacob Scipio, with Lily Sheen (of another famous relative) and a refreshing Neil Patrick Harris as the reality check. Tiffany Haddish is in this too, and Tom Gormican directs with a co-writer credit alongside Kevin Etten.
Let’s FACE/OFF it, the screen life of Nicolas Cage is unbearably more fun than his real life lately, or at least a recent Las Vegas visit. Anyway, here’s what’s going on in this improbable but (hopefully) hi-jinx-fueled movie.
In other news, renowned graphic artist Steve Chorney hatched up a new poster that riffs off key art from a few most-watched movies, from Big Trouble in Little China, Cannonball Run to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, they say.
Chomey has inked over 40 huge franchise hit one-sheets, from James Bond to Indiana Jones to name just a few. So here’s his take on THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT, which will be release on April 22, 2022 from Lionsgate.
