Startling THE STARLING is Melissa McCarthy at her dramatic best for you

Read Time:49 Second

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

As if there is not enough drama and sorrow on the world stage right now, two-time Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy plays Lilly Maynard, a mother with a great loss that she shares with broken husband Jack Maynard (Chris O’Dowd also from BRIDESMAIDS) and a flock of angry birds in THE STARLING.

Endearing Kevin Kline masters the drama well here too, as the therapist-turned-vet as in veterinarian who changes their lives for the best after a sudden empty nest.

THE STARLING, directed by Theodore Melfi, will be screened in select theaters and on Netflix for a Sept. 24 release. Maybe it will help troubles take wing for an escapist moment in this heart-felt movie with a cast that includes Timothy Olyphant and is written by Matt Harris.

Try not to cry at this clipped wing clip

This is one for the birds, and the lovebirds.
