RED ROCKET’s Chris Bergoch & FF919 gang at afterparty shot on an iPhone

Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

In the spirit of Sean Baker and Chris Bergoch’s first breakout film TANGERINE, last night Film Fest 919 founders Randi Emerman and Carol Marshall lined up with RED ROCKET Screenwriting Honoree Chris Bergoch and festival pals from an afterparty for some impromptu iPhone filming. This weekend’s footage followed a ceremony on Friday, when the Distinguished Screenwriter Award from Film Fest 919 in Chapel Hill, NC, was presented to co-writer Chris Bergoch of RED ROCKET.

From co-writer-director Sean Baker (The Florida Project, TANGERINE,) this newly minted cult hit stars jaw-dropping Simon Rex as Mikey Saber. He’s ex-Adult Film Star in a downlow tango with hottie Strawberry played by Suzanna Son, and his estranged wife expertly pulled off by Bree Elrod, where ‘payback is a bitch’ so to speak.

RED ROCKET smokes, and is the funniest full frontal ever seen on a man running in movies.

There’s a French connection here, as the footage is aimed at Paris, France, and FilmFestivals.com’s founder Bruno Chatelin. (Needless to say, my first time as iPhone filmmaker… wait… for… it.)

Three times a charm: Carol Marshall, Randi Emerman & Chris Bergoch

Three ties a charm plus a  Crowd:

RED ROCKET cheat sheet…

Director: Sean Baker

Co-Writers: Chris Bergoch & Sean Baker

Cast: Simon Rex, Suzanna Son, Bree Elrod

Festivals: Cannes Film Festival

Awards: in Competition for Cannes Palme D’Or

As RED ROCKET’s Mikey Saber might say? ‘Come to Carolina, Baby, #FF919 is where it’s at!’

And film fans can experience all the festival circuit magic live during Award Season on FilmFestivals.com.

[*FF919 fans, if you see your face in the Crowd footage, add your name in the comments below, we will add it!]

Stay mooned, uh, tuned. 😉
