NIGHTMARE ALLEY’s Bradley Cooper, star gallery, from Alice Tully Hall premiere

Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

Last night at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, NIGHTMARE ALLEY lead Bradley Cooper, Rooney Mara, and Director Guillermo del Toro showed up, with more of the cast, to wry smiles at the opening of this novel-adapted film about a carnival grifter who pierces the veil to nibble on the hapless1940’s upper crust set.

Or, in less cryptic terms, Stanton Carlisle (Cooper) enlists the talents of quirky seer Zeena (Toni Collette) to fleece Richard Jenkins with the help of mercurial shrink Cate Blanchett. And there’s fire, lots of fire. Due to scheduling, Collette and Blanchett were not on this carpet, but the other available stars held down the fort.

Del Toro and Cooper looked very chummy on the carpet, but were photographed separately to spread out the star power for this redraw of the 1946 true crime oddity penned by William Lindsay Gresham. A curious book that once starred Tyrone Power in the first screen version in 1947.

Behold, the trailer…

Cast also includes Willem Dafoe, the perfectly suited Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, he shares screenwriting credit with Kim Morgan, and Bradley Cooper is also listed as a producer.  NIGHTMARE ALLEY is from SearchLight Pictures and pens Dec. 17, visit the moving picture here.
