When THE MATRIX came out in 1999 from the then-Brothers Wachowski, collective have minds were blown away by main character Neo’s (Keanu Reeves) bullet-dodge body language that has become a movie cliche. Ditto with the “redpill’ lingo of various pundits and political hacks, which once meant something mysterious from the MATRIX, but became weaponized by the hundredth political influencer into nothingness.

But fans are due for a reboot, and the love story of Neo and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) is back online from one half of the talented sibling digerati director tag team.

Formerly Larry and Andy, the now-Sisters’ Wachowski director half Lana Wachowski has set her sights on a bold new vision for the mind-altering franchise with a fourth installment, THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS from Warner Bros (who are still bros, FYI). Set for a Dec. 22, 2021 release – yes, okay, look at that date again, the numbers (12/22/2021) – this Lana-directed Matrix foray is also futuristic social commentary of sorts as was the earliest version in 1999. See for yourself, take a chill pill.

See for yourself, take a chill pill, wait, is that deja vu, a glitch in the Matrix?

Perhaps Keanu Reeves as Neo will recall these lines from the original Morpheus, “I’ve been looking for you, Neo. I don’t know if you’re ready to see what I want to show you, but unfortunately, you and I have run out of time. They’re coming for you, Neo, and I don’t know what they’re going to do.”

In case you don’t know who else to look for in this quartet companion to the other Matrix films, Resurrections also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (the “Aquaman” franchise) Jessica Henwick (TV’s “Iron Fist,” “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”), Jonathan Groff (“Hamilton,” TV’s “Mindhunter”), a mind-numbing Neil Patrick Harris (“Gone Girl”), sultry/sexy Priyanka Chopra Jonas (TV’s “Quantico,”), smoking’ Christina Ricci (TV’s “Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story,” “The Lizzie Borden Chronicles”), Telma Hopkins (TV’s “Dead to Me,”), Eréndira Ibarra (series “Sense8,” “Ingobernable”), Toby Onwumere (TV’s “Empire”), Max Riemelt (series “Sense8”), Brian J. Smith (series “Sense8,” “Treadstone”), and watch out for Jada Pinkett Smith (“Angel Has Fallen,” TV’s “Gotham”).

We Did a Mind Meld with Warner Bros… Here’s the Intel:

Lana Wachowski directed from a screenplay by Wachowski & David Mitchell & Aleksander Hemon, based on characters created by The Wachowskis.  The film was produced by Grant Hill, James McTeigue and Lana Wachowski.  The executive producers were Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, Michael Salven, Jesse Ehrman and Bruce Berman.

Wachowski’s creative team behind the scenes included “Sense8” collaborators: directors of photography Daniele Massaccesi and John Toll, production designers Hugh Bateup and Peter Walpole, editor Joseph Jett Sally, costume designer Lindsay Pugh, visual effects supervisor Dan Glass, and composers Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer..

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, In Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, In Association with Venus Castina Productions, “The Matrix Resurrections.”  The film will be distributed by worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.  It will be in theaters nationwide and on HBO Max via the Ad-Free plan on December 22, 2021; it will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.
