Heck those cute kids, they literally tap-danced their way into stardom in LA LA LAND. What? Okay, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were already big stars, but this pairing made them huge. Emma Stone even won the Best Actress (she would prefer ‘actor’) award that year… But wait, a certain smog lingers.
Remember the LA LA LAND Oscar fracas a few years back?
It was the WTF Heard Round The World, as we commonly call it in Hollywood (yeah, the three people in costume walking Hollywood + Highland right now).
Beatty, that devilish rake, put the blame on Mame, and not the 1946 GILDA Rita Hayworth version either. Faye Dunaway was left agape and fluttery as, hell hath no fury like that of an actor at an agent, lo and behold, as… no MOONLIGHT was that 2017 Oscar clincher… Never mind, just watch this first, then we’ll go on to Lionsgate Live! and their A Night at The Movies Series (which, incidentally, will show JOHN WICK May 8 as an odd lot follow)…
No Way Faye, The King Kong of Oscar Flubs? Or. Was it a Plot!
Well, anyway the kids now cresting their 30’s, are still magic as the star-crossed couple who find themselves in love with Tinseltown instead of each other.
What a heartless unromantic summation, you say?
‘Coronavirus made me do it,’ is the current battle cry for break-up’s, divorces, and the rare make-up’s in these pandemic times… including harsh rom-com dismissals.
But when you see that planetarium scene, whether stolen in part or in toto from Annie Hall’s movie, you will want to fall in love again – if only for 42 seconds while the microwave popcorn is being made.
Remember When We Went TO the Movies, Sat Together, Less Than Six Feet Under?
A Night at the Movies will be hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis will be joined by special guest celebrities and YouTube personalities. The free movies that will livestream on Fridays at 6:00pm PT/9:00pm ET are: May 1 – “La La Land”

Here’s What They Say, You’re Invited!
This Friday, Lionsgate Live! presents LA LA LAND hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis, and featuring a performance from Oscar-winning Composer Justin Hurwitz, plus special messages from Seth Rogen, Salma Hayek, Bill Pullman, Jaeden Martel, Kaitlyn Dever, Pamela Adlon, and La La Land’s Oscar-winning Director Damien Chazelle, all in support of furloughed theater employees nation wide.
Best Picture in 100 Mile Radius of Hollywood & ElseWhere, lolz 😉
So have fun with this Lionsgate Live! (with that annoying exclamation point ending) screening series.
Enjoy!
[Editor’s Note: Or just pretend you’re doing f-i-n-e, just fine. Fine-er-ooni, Martini.]
