LOS ANGELES, CA: Screenmancer has unveiled major key art for the 25th anniversary. For the quarter century celebration, fine artist and second-generation font designer Mark Andrew Allen crafted a look based on the current iteration of the site. Allen’s work as a graphic designer in Hollywood saw him take part in roll-out campaigns for every major brand and studio, from Marvel to Mattel, to Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as The Jetsons updated.
Born in Texas, Mark eventually turned his craft to canvas full-time. His work can be seen currently at The White Room Gallery in The Hamptons.
Screenmancer’s website makes Hollywood history as the only female-founded entertainment film portal, script listing service, and networking start-up to last through to 2021. Screenmancer was launched in 1997 at the World Cafe in Santa Monica. Although the “internet cafe” no longer exists, the entertainment portal continued to build momentum through the 90’s even before the available technology existed to fulfill the overall mission of the site.
In 2014, CEO Quendrith Johnson became an Ambassador for Innovating Women in Technology, based on her participation in the book “Innovating Women: The Changing Face of Technology” written by Vivek Wadhwa and Farai Chideya. Screenmancer’s CEO took part in the book launch at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. A complete history of Screenmancer.com and Screenmancer.tv can be found up to 2020 here.
While 2022 officially marks the 25th Anniversary of Screenmancer, the development phase began in 1996 with friends and family seed capital. Founded by screenwriters Quendrith Johnson and Robinson Rea, who attended UCLA Film School together, Screenmancer was designed as “the first virtual movie studio” with the tagline “a gathering place for people who make movies.”
Mark Andrew Allen’s artwork will be featured on t-shirts and other merchandise. Allen is the designer of the first novel by Screenmancer’s CEO, “DFW’s Posthumous Masterclass” available on Amazon and other outlets. His work can also be found here and on OpenSea as NFT art for sale.
