Indie Spirit Awards name noms, like C’MON, C’MON, THE LOST DAUGHTER & many more

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

Set for an in-person comeback on Sunday, March 6, 2022, the 37th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards will return “to the beaches of Santa Monica” with a slate of noms to winners announced this morning by Naomi Watts, Regina King, and Beanie Feldstein. Just watch what they had to say, or quick-look to the entire nominees list below.

This list is incredibly gratifying and adheres to the titular promise of this organization, to stay in the lane for creative outliers and insiders who made an impact on the movies. However, some may question a few of the actor choices, but honestly? Simon Rex in RED ROCKET is risky business over someone like Andrew Garfield (a snub), but isn’t that the point of these awards… a different kind of tick, tick, boom?

Maggie Gyllenhaal is having quite a year with THE LOST DAUGHTER, which may prove to find all kinds of trophies for Award Season, even if she’s up against Mike Mills’ black-and-white masterpiece C’MON, C’MON.
