SANTA MONICA, CA: Last night at the American Film Market (AFM) in Santa Monica, the annual movie-sales event featured THAI NIGHT which was graciously attended by HRH Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi as an Ambassador for Thailand Films, in support of inviting production companies to consider her country as a prime location for shooting.
In a brief speech, after a live performance and sizzle reel of dynamic in-country locations, HRH Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi noted the "alchemy" of filmmaking and the power of the medium to touch millions on an artistic and cultural level. For 2015, she added that some $60 M USD in feature films have come from Thailand.
She cited the recent release NO ESCAPE, with Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan as a successful film to come out this year, with locations in Thailand.
One-sheet (poster) imagery from the movie features a fierce Pierce Brosnan in key art, with a backdrop of Thailand-based cast/crew resources in play. Released this summer, on Aug. 26, the film was distributed by the Weinstein Company, and grossed roughly $38 M USD so far on a $5 M USD budget.
Note the jewel-like ocean view, shot by Screenmancer's Eric Djie in Phuket, a prime venue for filming. AFM continues through Nov. 11 at the Lowe's in Santa Monica, Thai Night took place at Le Merigot, adjacent to the Lowe's.
Thanks to Screenmancer Staff and AFM, HRH The Princess & Thailand Films.
